How lyophilized peptides handle transit heat
Lyophilized powder is more tolerant of temperature variation than reconstituted solution. A few hours above ambient temperature will not destroy a well-sealed lyophilized vial. Repeated heat exposure over several days, or exposure to temperatures above 40°C for extended periods, is where real degradation begins.
Summer transit in a non-temperature-controlled truck can push package interior temperatures well above 40°C. Ground shipping across the southern US in July is a different risk profile than two-day air in December.
What Vantage Aminos ships with
Every order ships with ice packs in insulated packaging. Ice packs maintain interior temperature for 24-48 hours under typical conditions. For two-day air, this covers the transit window. For slower shipping methods in warm weather, it does not always hold. We recommend selecting expedited shipping during summer months.
How to assess your package on arrival
Check the exterior first. Significant crushing or puncture can compromise insulation. Open the package and feel the ice packs. Fully melted ice packs that have returned to room temperature indicate the cold window has passed. This does not necessarily mean the product is damaged, but it warrants closer inspection.
Examine the vials. Lyophilized powder should be white or off-white. Yellowing or browning suggests oxidative degradation. The powder should sit loose in the vial. If it has clumped into a solid mass along one side, moisture may have entered.
What to do if something looks wrong
Photograph the package and vials before opening or touching anything. Contact [email protected] with the lot number and photos. Do not reconstitute material you suspect is compromised. We cannot assess quality from a reconstituted sample.
Our replacement policy covers documented cold chain failures. We need the lot number and photos to process a claim. Both are much easier to provide if you document before opening.
HandlingStorage on your end after receipt
Move vials to 2 to 8°C storage as soon as possible after receipt. If you plan to use material within 4-6 weeks, refrigerator storage at 4°C works. Room temperature storage, even for a few days, is not recommended for any peptide in our catalog.
